ITC Milestone

Milestone of  ITC

        It is the largest Tobacco manufacture and multinational conglomerate of India. It was found in 240 August 1910 by British in Kolkata. The full form of ITC is imperial Tobacco corporation. Sanjiv Puri  is the chairman and Managing director of the company.

           27 October 1954, ITC  convert from private to public limited company. 

           May 1970 the company changed the name from imperial Tobacco Co, to India tobacco co.

           October 1972 ITC enter into Hotel business with the name of Welcome Hotels.

           1973 they set up 3 tobacco processing plants.

           1975 it purchased Indian leaf Tobacco development Co. Ltd.

           1979 they changed the hotel chain name to Welcome  Groups.

           1983 they start new hotels with the join agreement with Gujarat industrial investment Co, with  144 rooms at Vadodara it was known as Welcome Group Vadodara.

           1986 they signed a joint venture with MP Audyogik Vikas Nigam to start 4 hotels.

           1987 it launched 2 new cigarettes and also acquired Nedovs Hotel in Srinagar for lease.

          1988 it launched 2 cooking oil brands named as ADARSH and SUNDROP.

          1990 they introduce refined mustard oil under the brand name of REAL GOLD.

          1993 they launched Hero and Classic milds brand Cigarette.

          1995 it launched 3 cigarettes brand and re-design 2 cigarettes and introduce Gold flake king size for test run.

          1996 it launched classic ultra milds and wills natural lights brand.

          1997 Itc classic finance Ltd signed with ICICI Ltd.

          1998 it has 105 subsidiaries with various kinds of operation.

          2000 it enter into textile division with the full range of internationally styled premium Wear for Men and Women with the brand name of Wills sports.

           In 21 February 2003 it enter into the cottage industry by producing natural incense sticks. In 04 April, ITC introduce salt in Staple segment for their ITC foods product under the brand name of AASHIRVAAD.

          2008 they launched eco-friendly premium business paper with the brand name of Class mate notebooks.

          2010 they enter into 1700 crore Fairness cream market. At the same year ITC enter into Cigars business in India.

           2012 it launched their unique skin nourishing range of soaps named VIVEL.

          2014 ITC became a competitor brand for TCS and launched E-Cigarette. In the same year ITC invest large amount Colombia hotel business.     

           

Awards

          In 2011 Mr. Y.C Deveshwar chairman of the company received Padma Bhushan for launched renowned brands like Class mate notebooks and John Players.
